Tinkering Frogs

It's been a horrid fortnight for knitting! Seems everything I've been on is bound for self-destruction. I don't know what my problem is. Oh dear.

The Husband's cardigan front is sat smugly in its bag, awaiting total frogging. Somehow I failed to realise that the cables wouldn't work the way I'd set them-once the decreases start for armhole and neck, well, you get the picture. It was good practice I guess.

Precious Child's sock. My first sock. Of course I had to decide on a toe-up sock. Didn't find much in patterns so worked out a composite. The figure 8 cast on took some practice. By the fourth try I had it pat. Great. Increased by far too many stitches for her narrow foot. First frog. Went too far so began again. I did fine until the heel. By the time I reached the heel, she'd decided that a short-row heel wouldn't be as comfortable as a good old fashioned, looks-like-a-full-diaper heel flap. No problem. So I went ahead, and, while watching some ridiculous made-for-television movie (not paying attention), I short-rowed the heel anyway. Not only that, but I started the heel much too soon, ending up with one very short foot-not even long enough for my own short feet. Frog back several rows. Now I've got the right length and start making a heel flap-crossways to the dingdang toe! Eeep. This time I think I've got it right. I'm still not sure how the heel flap done from sole to heel is going to look, but I think it'll be fine.

Last-a tank top that I'd seen online. I liked the front, hated the back. I re-wrote the pattern. And dug into the project with an inappropriate yarn. My hands were so tired from working the thing that I gave up, eventually buying a yarn better suited to it. Into the frog pond-and wrack the old brain for a way to use the otherwise perfectly good yarn.

On top of all my mistakes, I suffered nearly a week of no knitting-so much going on with the holiday. For all the errors, it's good to be knitting again!
